t Milton Residences for the Elderly we recognize that those who make their homes with us want to remain active and independent as long as they possibly can. They want to make their own decisions about the details of their daily lives. Yet, at the same time, they need to know they can get help easily when they need it.

Many older people who are mobile and alert are troubled by infirmities that impose some limitations on their activities. Finding themselves too frail to remain alone in a house or apartment, they feel they must decide between two dramatically different choices. At one end of the spectrum are attractive residential communities that provide - and charge for - a full array of services that most residents don't necessarily want or need. At the other end of the spectrum are nursing homes, offering the security of complete care, but in an institutional setting. MRE represents a third choice - a middle ground offering a menu of services which residents can select from, and pay for, on an "as needed" basis. We believe this "enriched services" approach is a practical solution for seniors who are in good health but need a certain amount of help to continue living on their own.

The support services described below can be customized to meet a resident's needs.

THE SERVICES
  • Nursing
    The registered nurse on our staff helps evaluate residents' needs. Should you ever need support services, this trained medical professional will work with us, with you, and with your physician to be certain that an appropriate plan is developed for you.
  • Personal Care
    For some of our residents, the simple activities of personal care - bathing, dressing, or preparing meals - may be difficult because of illness or infirmity. In such instances, our personal care aides can provide services to suit each person's individual needs.
  • Housekeeping
    Sometimes just a small amount of assistance can keep the routines of daily or weekly housekeeping from becoming too difficult to handle. Whether a resident requires help with laundry, cleaning, or food shopping, the MRE support program staff can help.
  • Meals
    For those who are unable to cook for themselves every day, a full luncheon and dinner menu is available up to seven days a week. Meals are delivered directly to residents' apartments. Each location has a different arrangement for optional meal service. Fuller Village features a full service dining room. Meals are also available at Winter Valley and Unquity House. In addition, of course, those who wish to can prepare meals in their own kitchens.
  • Food Shopping
    MRE provides van transportation to supermarkets two or three times a week. In addition, some residents choose to arrange privately for grocery delivery.
  • Transportation
    MRE provides transportation for errands and appointments as well as grocery shopping. In addition, van excursions to local shopping areas are offered on a regular basis.
